Frequently Asked Questions
Who will attend the focus groups?
Invited participants represent a wide range of professionals and individuals involved with the local response to novel H1N1 influenza. Invitees include: hospital officials, physicians, pharmacists, local public health departments, elected officials, emergency management officials, independent school district officials, and representatives from the Department of State Health Services.
How many people have been invited to attend a focus group?
Thirty-one individuals have been invited to attend each focus group. An additional five individuals from the Department of State Health Services Health Service Region have also been invited to attend.
If I wasn't invited to attend, can I just show up and register on-site?
No. Participation is by invitation only. If an invited participant is unable to attend, he or she may identify an alternate to attend in his or place. If that is the case, the alternate will be provided an invitation code in which to register. All participants - either invited or an alternate - must register to attend.
I wasn't invited to attend, but I have feedback that I think is important?
If you were not invited to attend or you were unable to attend there are several options in which you can provide feedback to be considered during the after action process. (1) If you work at an organization or agency in which a person has been invited to attend, we suggest you meet with that person before the focus group to share your concerns. The topics that will be discussed at the focus group include: (a) antiviral medication allocation and distribution; (b) vaccine allocation and distribution; (c) communication, media campaigns, and public information; and (d) local / regional response issues. (2) We have developed an online feedback mechanism in which you can provide written comments.
How are topics determined for the focus groups?
Topics are determined by input from DSHS and from invited participants. Invited participants were asked to complete an online survey to indicate topics and subtopics of interest. DSHS program, technical, and executive staff have also provided input.
Will there be a summary document issued for each focus group?
Yes. Following this meeting, a summary document of 2-3 pages will be created outlining the major points of discussion at each focus group. The document will be made available in PDF on this web site. Please come back here to download the document. (Please note: Due to the travel schedule there may be a delay of several days in completing and posting the document.)
How will the final after action report be communicated back to focus group participants?
This process is currently being developed. More information on the release of the final after action report will be posted on this website when it is avaialble (likley date for more information: Mid-May, 2010)
